I based this painting on a friend of mine called Mercarina. It’s about the message of our seas and how we must remember to reconnect to our source of life. When we visit the sea we all feel connected to it and gaze out to the horizon and wonder what lies beneath. We all feel joy and happiness when we visit, it’s a place we often revisit in our minds when we need to relax.
It’s time for us to nurture our feelings of our humble beginnings so that we learn to simply love and live in harmony with nature and ourselves. I have used larimar crystal as it is said to promote tranquillity and a strong sense of inner peace and serenity; pearls to represent the moon and the strong tidal flows within our life, and because they are the gems of the sea. I also used citrine as a protection symbol since it never needs cleansing and brings more strength to other crystals. It’s our sun crystal and is connected to our solar plexus which motivates us to take action. I have placed it within the infinity symbol which represents everlasting love. Long live the water spirits and may they feel the love we have for them in being our guardians of the water element.
This piece was inspired by a snorkeling trip to Hanauma Bay in Hawaii.
This was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I have never seen such beauty under the water before. I love the majestic beauty of the ocean. Underwater is a whole different world populated with wonderful creatures and plant life to be watched and enjoyed – so enchanting and so beautiful, her face shines towards you, welcoming you to the wonders of the sea. But still, we are creatures of the land, and so this painting is of a goddess of both the sea and the land: She is a merfaerie. Her purpose is to reconnect us with our planet's ocean and the wonders it holds. Especially during times like this, we each need to take extra care with our homes and ourselves and to honor the beauty within us and around us.
